Hunt Showdown Codexery

Lucille

She stitches flesh and will back together while the bayou swallows the rest.

Lucille is a Hunter in Crytek's Hunt: Showdown, a dark-horror extraction shooter set in the cursed Louisiana bayou. She occupies the support niche of the Hunter roster, bringing healing and revival capabilities to a team that must survive the Company's deadly hunts and the monstrous creatures that roam the swamp. In a game where a single headshot can end a run, Lucille's ability to pull a fallen teammate back from the brink makes her one of the most strategically valuable Hunters in a squad.

Her presence on the field changes the tempo of a hunt: while other Hunters focus on aggression, positioning, or utility, Lucille becomes the reason a team can push through a losing firefight and still walk out of the extraction point with their bounties intact.

Lore & Background

The Company does not recruit healers out of kindness. Lucille was drawn into the cursed roster because her hands could close wounds that no field kit in the swamp could touch, and because the Black Blood that binds every Hunter to the hunt seemed to flow through her veins with a particular, almost surgical precision. Where other Hunters feel the curse as a gnawing hunger, Lucille experiences it as a compulsion to mend—to press her palms to a broken body and refuse to let the bayou take it. The Company found that useful. They also found it easier to control a woman whose deepest instinct was to keep others alive than one whose instinct was to kill.

Her time in the Company's Louisiana operations left scars that no amount of mending could fix. She has seen Hunters dragged into the black water by things with too many joints, has watched a teammate's skull cave in under a shotgun blast and then reformed in a way that was not healing. The curse does not distinguish between mending and monstrosity. Lucille learned early that the line between saving a life and becoming part of the swamp's appetite is thinner than a suture thread, and she has never stopped watching for it to snap.

Among the other Hunters she is respected and, at times, pitied. They need her. They also know that a Hunter who heals is a Hunter who lingers in a firefight, who stays close to a downed body while the bayou fills with the sound of something large turning over in the mud. Lucille accepts the risk. The alternative—watching a teammate dissolve into the black water while she stands ten feet away with a full medkit—is a death she cannot survive.

In Their Own Story

The fog was so thick the cypress knees looked like the fingers of buried giants. Lucille knelt in the muck, her knees sinking past the mud into something that might have been old bone, and pressed both hands flat against the back of her teammate's skull. The Black Blood pulsed under her fingertips, hot and wrong, threading through the shattered vertebrae like a surgeon's suture. She whispered nothing. The Company had taught her that prayers were for people who still believed in a sky above the swamp. She counted to ten. The man gasped. The fog swallowed the sound of something massive exhaling three yards to the left, and Lucille did not look up. She finished the mending. Then she looked up, and the thing in the fog was already gone, and the only evidence was a smear of black ichor on a cypress root and the fact that the air tasted like copper and rot. She helped her teammate to his feet. They walked. The bayou kept its silence, which was worse than any sound.

Reader's Guide

NAME: Lucille – The Mender

ABILITY: Lucille's signature skill is a healing and revival tool. In the heat of a firefight, when a teammate is downed or her own health is critically low, she can channel a restore that pulls a Hunter back from the edge of death. The key to using it well is timing: activate it the moment a shot lands and a body goes down, not after the team has already rotated and lost the fight. In a 1v1 or 2v2, that single revive can turn a lost engagement into a clean extraction. In larger scrambles, it is the difference between a full squad walking out of the portal and a lone survivor limping through the fog.

ARCHETYPE: Support. Lucille is not built to open fights or hold angles. Her value is in the seconds after a bullet hits, in the window where a downed Hunter is still recoverable. She thrives in two- or three-person teams where she can stay close enough to heal but far enough to avoid becoming a sitting target.

LORE TIE: The Company selected Lucille because the Black Blood made her an almost involuntary healer. The curse compels her to mend, and the Company compels her to serve. She is, in their files, both asset and anomaly: a Hunter whose instinct runs counter to the hunt's purpose of elimination.

WEAPONS & ARTIFACTS: Lucille pairs naturally with a close-range shotgun or a reliable semi-auto rifle for self-defense while she channels her heal. A healing or armor-repair artifact in your kit extends her sustain, and a movement artifact helps her reposition quickly after a revive so she is not caught stationary in open ground. Keep a compact sidearm for the moments when the bayou decides to close in and you need to be moving.
